This Regulation, which will be adopted in 2026, advances the circularity of plastics in the automotive sector.

Despite some provisions being watered down since the initial negotiations, Plastics Recyclers Europe acknowledges the importance of this Regulation, which will put forward:

Gradual recycled plastic content targets in new vehicles: 15% within 6 years and 25% within 10 years Within these targets, 20% of the recycled content will need to come from end-of-life vehicles, contributing to closing the loop Only post-consumer plastic will count towards the targets.
