The 2024 Paris Olympics, set to take place in July, will not only feature intense competition but will also highlight recycled plastic as a major attraction of the event. It has been reported that nearly 11,000 seats in two venues, the Adidas Arena and the newly built Paris Olympic Aquatics Center, are made entirely from recycled plastic. These seats were provided by a French eco-construction company, which utilized technologies such as thermal compression to transform hundreds of tons of recyclable plastic into boards, ultimately crafting them into seating.

Head of a French Eco-Construction Firm: "We acquire (recyclable plastic) from different recyclers, in collaboration with over 50 recycling firms. They are responsible for waste collection and sorting. The plastic waste is then cleaned and shredded. Afterward, these plastic wastes are transported to our factories in the form of pellets or fragments to be made into eco-friendly seats."

Indeed, this is not the first time "recycled plastic" has participated in the Olympics. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, all the podiums were made from recycled household plastic products, and the fabric of the clothing came from recycled fibers. "Recycled plastic" participating in the Olympics will also appear in more and more fields in the future.
